Drink water, or anything that is low in acids. Avoid caffeine, it is a diuretic so it may, more times than not, worsen the symptoms. (I drink coconut water. Although some people may have stomach aches after. Milk helps too.)
What to eat:
Eat foods high in protein. (I suggest bacon. However, it is high in sodium so make sure you drink plenty of water).
Starchy foods help absorb fluids in your stomach (e.g. when your stomach feels upset and you want to vomit, you are given crackers.)
I like eating cheese fries, you get your starch, bacon (sometimes) all in one. OR a bacon sandwich. (Bacon and bread, that’s it.)
Some people may not be able stomach greasy foods. It’s all a matter of preference.
Foods high in minerals are good too.
Try to avoid OTC medication (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, naproxen etc.) if you can. Most of the time these make symptoms worse. NSAIDs may cause stomach aches and shouldn’t be taken unless you know you can handle it.
Instead, try taking some Alka Seltzer. It helps with the upset stomach and headache. (Make sure it is the “Morning Relief” kind.
Hangover Pills and/or drinks:
These work, take as instructed though.
Some bars sell hangover shots (like “5 Hour Energy”), but your best bet will be at your local liquor stores.
These are amazing investments. Search around and see what works best for you.
Try a shower:
Without a doubt, you may be all stinky and such. Some people find a cold, or warm shower helps with the headache and it wakes you up.
Know your limits, know what you should and shouldn’t drink and always have a designated driver if you are drinking outside your home.
What do you do for your hangovers?
